In the land of plenty

Well once again it has been a week, and still with 6 cats! Though by the end of the weekend we should be down to 2 or 3.

We went out to our garden last night, which means a day of cooking for me. I really enjoy cooking, but I hate dishes (especially without a dishwasher) - Jeff said he would do the dishes tonight, yeah that means guilt free cooking for me!

Here is a rundown of my cooking today :
  • Started my third batch of relish of the year (recipe is in a post somewhere below)
  • Packaged fruit leather I made yesterday and started a new one
  • Made a cucumber and tomato salad for tomorrow
  • Chopped, cooked and milled tomatoes for marinara sauce for dinner
  • Remembered to feed my children breakfast and lunch!
Here is what I have left to go before I can actually start my to-do list not involving food:
  • Putting up 15 ears of corn (this really isn't a lot, Jeff can't have it so I don't do a lot)
  • Making a few jars of pickled jalepenos
  • Doing something with the 20 pears that are ripe today, probably pear sauce
I really love being able to cook with free food. If any of you have extra garden produce you want gone, we would love to be creative with it - especially tomatoes, we have tons of green ones and are not sure if the weather will cooperate enough for them to ripen. And hey if you are bored, head on over sometime for a from the garden home cooked meal.
