Our busy productive week!

Yes, I know it has been a week. And I am going to use the age old excuse and say we were busy, but hey we were. In fact there were at least 2 days this week we didn't even turn on our computer! So here is what we have been up to.

Last Tuesday Jeff's parents came to visit, they brought us another load of wood. Jeff and Larry (Jeff's dad) unloaded it in the rain. But as you can see from the picture, this is a mixed blessing because some of these rounds are the size of the whole wood stove! Does anyone have an extra ax lying around that we can buy???
After the wood, Jeff took advantage of Larry's truck being here and went and got a big load of manure. Which Jeff unloaded in the rain, and then washed the truck....in the rain.
Can we say compost, Mmmmmm!

While my wonderful husband and father in law were out working hard for the family, Andrea (Jeff's mom) and I worked up quite the appetite holding down the fort.

The rest of the week I was busy with the stand for the wood stove. I have finally finished scraping all of the grout that dried on to all of the tiles on the top part (hint: always wash off your grout sooner than later!) and then grouted the bottom part. Luckily, the girls were very good for me and I was able to move pretty quickly and got it done in two days. Although, I was not moving so quickly the next few days after spending two days on the wood floor on my behind and doing the same motion over and over with my wrist. But another thing is marked off the list home improvement!

Ta-da!

We get the stove put in on Tuesday! There is a lot Jeff and I will attempt by ourselves when it comes to hope improvement, putting a hole through our roof is not one of them. We are a little nervous, we have never hired contractors, and as far as we can remember our parents really didn't either. What do we do? What do we have prepared? Do I stay home or leave? What if they don't meet our standards? Ahhh so many questions! (BTW Jeff is currently in the attic moving insulation so it doesn't all come falling into the living room for me to clean off of everything, isn't he great!)

Yesterday Jeff and I cleaned the garage so we could get to the stove we have been saving for 6 months now. It looks pretty good. There is now enough room to dive in to the winter projects we have planned, which is mostly a lot of painting. But it is freezing out there! Does anyone have an idea of what a good is?

Then we have today. Today was church, the usual routine- I had nursery, sale tickets of the ladies candle light dessert, chase Heidi around cookie time, teach Sunday School..... Oh wait, did I say teach Sunday School? Well actually due to homework and sickness and the generally scattered schedules of college kids, we had no students! So Jeff and I took advantage of free child care and joined another SS class at Murphy's Bar and Grill and had a little date. It was great! Not that I am suggesting any of you college kids out there should skip Sunday School just so your teachers can go out, we are not that desperate.

After lunch today Heidi asked Jeff if they could play video games. She has never really played them before, she just all of a sudden had the interest. Of course Jeff jumped at the chance; any chance to play video games, even with a 3 year old and Mario Brothers is a good one. Heidi was actually able to move Mario about 6 inches down the screen, jump on the bad guys, hit the box with the coin, hit the box with the mushroom to make you grow, catch the mushroom, jump up and over the first pipe, and then die because the time ran out. It was great! I think we have the makings of another gamer.

You are a busy woman! Before you get your kiddo too deep into gaming you should read a book entitled "Playstation Nation". It has some REAL eye opening things about gaming. We have game systems in our house too and it was a GREAT book to read before having kids! I tell everybody about it, and Leo read it to his high school kids. It's a really fast read!
