Big words

Heidi is growing up. She is making the cute funny connections with words and their surrounding contexts less often. This in no way means she is a lack of entertainment. She is moving on to bigger words and concepts. Here are a few as of late that I can remember.

Terrifies - We were on the way to the coast and we were playing "guess the animal I am thinking of" (our version of 20 questions, but you can only choose to be thinking of an animal and it is OK to ask more than 20 questions). After Jeff and I had asked several questions and she had said yes to every single one, the animal really wasn't making since at all (we think she just wanted to be right and yes is always the right answer, right?); so she decided to give us a hint. "It terrifies little princesses!" Oh, yes that would be a dragon. Does that still count as a animal?

Emergency - Her Mega Blocks doll house had several "emergencies" yesterday as she could not get the pieces to stick together as she wanted and she wanted me to fix them. Never mind that it was a great e-bay find that was used and has a few broken pieces (that we knew about) which is what she was wanting me to fix.

Spirit - This one is more of a concept. Jeff had told her that Jesus had helped him get better when he had been in the hospital. So of course being a literal 4 year old thinker, she thought Jesus had been right there. We tried to explain that it had been the spirit of Jesus that had helped him. She asked, "What is that?" Yeah, good question, especially since you are 4 and have no idea that a non physical world exists. How would you satisfy that question without a zillion other "why" questions following it? (Jeff here, I have come to determine that mysticism, theology and complete literal minds just don't mix...which is why we need all new sunday school curriculum. somebody write it)
