The moment you have all been waiting on the edge of your seats for is here! The kitchen is done (mostly, there are a few small projects I want to do over the summer to pull it all together). If you have not seen the dreadful mess that was my kitchen before or if you need a good scare of a refresher then
click here before you continue. We finished at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, the pictures below were taken just 5 and a half days after the ones in the old post. And now, on with the show - I will highlight some of my favorite new things as we go, enjoy:

Yeah for white cupboards, and a vent hood, and knobs on upper cabinets doors (we think this is the first time in our married life that we have had knobs on our kitchen cabinets!)

All of these dishes are clean, really. It is just that without a dishwasher and the need of the shelf above to continue drying there is really no where to put dishes. They will get put away soon, I promise.

Yeah for art on my walls again!

Yeah for new paint color. I was really tired of feeling like I was cooking inside of a sun faded hospital scrub.

Yeah for our new fish tank and deal score on an
IKEA dresser. Jeff and I have kept fish (in fact some of the same fish) all 6 years we have been married, so a bigger fish tank is really exciting.
After looking back at the old pictures I think a good cleaning would have done the old kitchen a bunch of help, but hey it was after a busy weekend and the kitchen was messy. I am VERY happy with the weeks work and am a much happier cook.
And so I am held accountable, here is my to-do list for the kitchen this summer:
- Make curtains out of eyelet fabric for window above sink
- Paint and hang a plate rail shelf in dining room (it will go where the different colors meet)
- Refinish 2 bar stools for seating at the island
- Put fabric behind glass doors of dresser so storage mess is hidden
And if we are
lucky:
- Replace sliding glass doors with french doors (which we do have in the garage!)
- Paint and install baseboards
I want to say thanks to my mom who came for a whole week to help and my friend Sue for helping paint - thanks guys! I am so happy with the results of all the work that went into the kitchen. I go in and feel happy now.

Great change. I just love makeovers like this where I only have to look at the pictures and be impressed.... I am fully aware of how much work this kind of change requires. It looks really nice!
Looks great! I love the peach color, it's much warmer and more inviting then the hospital mint green.
Woo hoo ... looking good! This year you'll make twice the amount of canned good just because of the ambiance!
Looks great Odessa!
(Jeff here) Great work 'Dess. I enjoy the kitchen as well. And just so everyone knows I wired the vent hood up...I didn't even have to use a book to figure it out, just matched colors. And I did it live...just 'cause we aren't sure which breaker goes to which wire (and some aren't on the main somehow)
The yellow walls and white cubbards remind me of my own kitchen in progress... good taste!!!
love it! its amazing how white brightens up a room!! great job!!
