Truthfully I got one vote for each of the topics I want to blog about, so I broke the vote and picked myself (sorry Alysun, next time).
I had mentioned a while ago that we were potty training Clara, she is doing really well. She uses the big potty all of the time and tells us when she needs to go (which is good, because I wouldn't remember to take her), has dry panties 90% of the time when she wakes up from nap, AND the last three days she has woken up with a dry diaper in the morning. I think I am right on the edge of having the no more diaper dance!!
All of this adds very greatly to our spontaneous get away last weekend. Jeff had last Monday off (gotta love state jobs, they get all the holidays off!) and we have gotten our tax return so we took the girls on a overnight-er to the beach after church. Pool, cable, eating junk food on the bed, what more could you ask for to have a great time.
I am not to much of a spontaneous person, I have learned this, Jeff was very polite and waited/helped for a few hours before leave so I could have everything in order and packed for every weather condition. We didn't tell the girls anything until Heidi guessed, they are fine with spontaneity. The great part was when I realized I only had to pack one diaper! ONE!! Just for the night, we didn't even need swim diapers!
Here are some pictures from our lovely time:
The pool was out of towels and were to busy to bring new ones so we had to sprint back to our room on the third floor sopping wet and jump in the shower to warm up.
She finally has figured out how to hold the button down long enough, now she just needs to work on actually getting everything in the picture! (note from Jeff: this reminds me of some of the 1990's alternative band photos, except we should be looking away.)
I just love this picture, I know it won't last for long.
So that was our wonderful one diaper weekend away. I must confess that we did have an accident just before coming home when we stopped for lunch at DQ. Probably due to the fact that we played at the beach for about 2 hours and forgot to take her when we got to the restaurant. In her defence she did tell us, she just REALLY had to go. And FYI for all you potty training mommies - the bathroom is outside at the back of the building at the Lincoln City Dairy Queen.

Look perfect! And you took pictures too. You guys are such a fun family. I am also married to a Mr. Spontaneous. It's hard work when the mama is the one who has to pack for everyone and all their needs. I'm always glad we went on the adventure though. Spontaneous is fun!
that is a great picture of the girls......Granma Cricket
