Another week

I can't believe it has been a week since I have been on here. Here are a few things we have learned in the passed week or so -
  • No more lettuce for Jeff, it wasn't terrible but it was too much too soon
  • How to make jell-o not from a box
  • How to make yogurt
  • How to make mayonnaise from scratch
  • A straw fits up Clara's nose
  • Heidi has remembered how to spell "moon" for over 24 hours!
  • Roth's grocery store has a really good sale on ground beef right now (and we were silly enough to buy 100 lbs. and wrap it ourselves! It took over 2 hours, but hey we are set for a year now)
I feel smarter now that I have reviewed what I have learned.

Our summer is in full swing and that means canning. I have gotten a good start on the year but have much more to go. If you know anyone looking to learn how to can, please give them my number - I will teach if they are willing to learn by helping me, they will of course get some of the food we put up too! Also if you are overwhelmed with anything in your garden, pass it my way I will find something to do with it and would love the challenge if it is something odd. We are on the look out for eggplant, any squashes, tomatoes, peppers, spices, tomatillos, I will even take zucchini!

A quick update on Derek, the bone in his neck is finally in perfect alignment, another month and he may get to be in the soft brace. YEAH!!! The bummer part is his teeth. His jaw was considered healed a month ago, but there is wire and medal all over in his mouth to hold things in place while it healed. They cannot take any of this out until his neck is healed because he has to be able to lay with his head back so his air way can stay open. So he is stuck with it. But hey he can eat now!

Oh, I like the new background. For some reason the previous green always turned my stomach.... colors have a weird thing on me like that. I can't watch some movies because of their predominant use of a color... they just make me sick feeling.
