The other good thing is my first dahlia bloomed! I love flowers and am so excited to have a place to grow them now. I was given 5 dahlia tubers this spring to get my flowers going and had no clue of the colors. The first to pop is one of my favorite color combos on a flower, YEAH! I have buds on 2 more of the plants and can't wait to see how they come out.
The nay of the day would be the fact that we had a visit from an officer today. Heidi got up from her quiet time to use the bathroom, as she is heading back to her room I hear, "The door is locked Mommy, he-he I locked Clara in!" Great! This is the door that for some reason has a push lock on the inside (I don't know how she figured out how to set it before she closed the door) and a key slot on the outside, not a little hole you can poke something into - a key slot! Of course we didn't get that key when we bought the house. I called Jeff and he gave me some ideas - window, no; credit card, no; kick the knob really hard, didn't try it it would hurt; run into door with shoulder, well it is hollow core and it bounced me back. I knew I could run into the door much harder, I didn't give it my full effort the first time, but I was pretty sure I would break the door and not the knob. So I called the local police department, not 911 because Clara isn't screaming on the other side thus it is not an emergency, right? Any way they sent an officer out and he was able to hold open the trim piece in front of the lock with his handcuffs and pop the door open with a screw driver. All was good other than me being a little embarrassed. The thought did cross my mind to ask to borrow the hand cuffs so little missy wouldn't do this again. But no worries, and now I know how to break into my girls room - that might come in handy in about 10 years.

Just wanted to let you know that I am "out here"!!! I love to read your blog. I am so jealous of your apple trees!!! I refused to buy apples at the store, cause the cheapest ones are $1.50/lb!!!! I love shopping at Eddie Bauer (sp?) clearance section too. We just got back from Bend this weekend and did a little clothes shopping, yip, Eddie Bauer Rocks!!!!

I am glad you are able to can your own apples. Those little ones are a pain, but worth it.
The lock story is really funny. For me to read. Not for you to go through, I am sure. I bet you made that officers day that he could come in your peaceful home and break sweet Clara out of her room and not have to answer a call that took him to the nasty side of things.
