Seattle!

WARNING!! Lots of pictures coming!

Last week the girls and I got to have quite an adventure! We got to go visit some family in Seattle. Jeff's brother and his wife live up there and since we don't get to see them very often, we headed up for a visit on their spring break (they're teachers). It was so much fun!! Unfortunately my wonderful, gracious husband had to stay behind because ODOT doesn't have spring break (although with the way furloughs are being purposed, it may happen in the future... but that is another story). But my sister came along, so I had wonderful help. And now on with the show!

Here we are in the train on the way up. It was really fun to take the train up, I was nice to be able to get up and walk around and Heidi was so excited to have the way over priced bagel from the restaurant on the train!Clara dancing with Uncle Jon.Heidi making breakfast with Aunt Jess. With the famous Pikes Place fish market pig. With me being a pig collector, I though it would be great to have a miniature of this for my collection - can you believe we couldn't find one anywhere! I came home with a wooden toy pig because it is literally the only pig we found the whole trip. This was a beautiful arboretum we found at Volunteer park - and the best part, it was free! This was the cactus room in the arboretum, they were huge!Throwing pennies in the arboretums wishing well. There were bug eating plants just behind the girls that any little boy would have drooled over, but my girls wouldn't even look at them the thought of a wishing well was just to romantic (sigh).A sculpture at Volunteer Park, you can just barely see the space needle in the background.A picture of the space needle taken from the top of a tower in Volunteer Park. BTW Heidi climbed all the stairs up and down the tower by herself - it was well over 100!We took the ferry over to Bainbridge Island one day.
We made it to the nose of the boat long enough for one picture, it was FREEZING wind. One night we were treated to cupcakes from the Cupcake Royal - a Seattle company that makes gourmet cupcakes. We had honey peanut brittle, Yummy. This was a water fall park we found a few blocks from the train station while we were waiting for our train home. It was carved out of the corner of a block and was enclosed on all sides so it was really loud.On the train ride home Heidi slept, Clara did not.Clara's most exciting part of the trip... discovering she has pockets in her clothes!

It was a wonderful (and tiring) trip with lots of walking and tons of great food. Thanks Jon and Jess for a great time and lots of visiting, and thanks Kayla for all your help (especially watching the girls so we could go to the crepe restaurant!).

Bug-eating plants, huh? Jeremiah would be exstatic, however, throwing things, especially into water is always a high activity as well!
